There is a big difference between an after Build clean and a domestic clean, the first is a thorough clean at the end of a project while the second is a light clean to a domestic property on a regular basis. Building is a messy job, especially if other trades such as plasterers, carpenters and painters haven’t used adequate protection when carrying out their work. At the end of the building or decorating process, a cleaner is required to make sure the property or refurb looks presentable.

In order for an after Builders cleaning to be effective, the site should be free from all other tradesmen and clear of all building materials. All rubbish and debris should first be removed from the property.

Floors, including the tiles in wet areas should be vacuumed or mopped where appropriate. Particularly dirty floors should be scrubbed cleaned and polished with a scrubber dryer buffer machine and if especially dirty or stained, carpets should be treated and washed. Ideally shoe covers should be worn while any minor work or protection wear should remain in tact but this is not always the case and so on occasion a deep clean to the flooring may be required.

All Shelves and surfaces should be wiped including cupboards and cabinets inside out, kitchen and bathroom, mirrors etc. Following any building works, dust lingers in the air for quite some time and will continue to re-settle for some time after works are completed. Therefore re-cleans are often required.

All high level fittings should be wiped over – light fittings, extractors, etc. It’s unlikely that they would need a deeper clean than wiping over but dust will easily re-settle.

Windows and any other glazing should be washed via the traditional window cleaning method, they should be wiped clean to a smear-free shine with a microfibre cloth.

External gutters, soffits and fascias of new build properties should also be washed down and balconies and pathways swept.

What is an after build clean?

An After build clean, is the  final or ‘sparkle’ clean, construction site cleaning, etc, caution should be taken to select the legitimate one with the relevant experience. Choosing an inexperienced company could result in thousands of pounds worth of damage, for example windows being scratched or specialist flooring being marked. There is a lot of bogus cleaning companies out there and the construction industry, in particular, is renowned for “cowboys” or “slap dashers”  posing as professional cleaners. Health and safety is of particular importance when carrying out after build cleaning – especially on larger sites. CleanArrow™ have a strict health and safety policy in place to ensure that all relevant industry legislation is followed and to avoid work being carried out in a dangerous way or manner. A copy of this policy can be provided on request. To reinforce our health and safety policy, we carry out a site-specific risk assessment and issue a written method statement – copies of both are then supplied to the contractor. Regular health and safety audits are carried out by CleanArrow™ management and we have recently recruited a specialist Health and Safety consultant to oversee our policies and carry out audits for larger jobs.
